Garden houses have evolved a lot in recent years. Wooden, metal or synthetic material, traditional or modern style, there is a great variety in models and sizes. Simple sheds or habitable area, are placed very quickly and fully integrated into the environment.

Depending on my needs
The choice of model and size depends on the intended use:
- A storage space for garden tools?
- A place for various crafts, for the preparation of crops?
- A summer kitchen, a children's playground?
- A place to host friends?
- A space that can be used throughout the year?
Criteria to be considered
- Height below the beam for comfortable traffic: at least 2.20 meters.
- Material for construction: time retention, maintenance.
- Fixing to the ground and way of assembly.
- Type of roof and cover.
- 'Existence of floor.
- Openings: door, windows, windows.
- Equipment capabilities: shelves, planters, shutters ...

Selection Criteria
-The dimensions
Less than 6 sqm is enough to arrange garden products and tools (lawn mower, stroller).
Between 6 and 14 sqm, it is the ideal surface for a laboratory and arranging garden and gardening tools.
Between 14 and 20 sqm, you make a real game room (office, music room ...). In this case, you need to pay attention to the height and number of openings (door, windows) to have as much light as possible.
From 20 sqm and above, you can configure it as a second cottage. Choose a thick frame (up to 44 mm), interior partitions and double glazing.
-Material depending on the use
The choice of material depends on the use you want to make, on the environment and climate of your area:
Raw wood: It is a beautiful and natural material by definition and is easily integrated into the landscape. You can paint the shed in the color of your choice. In addition, the wood offers good insulation for the cold.
Aluminum: As it does not rust, it is the ideal material for small houses by the sea or in areas where it rains a lot, but it does not have very good insulation in the cold. Aluminum is durable, maintenance is limited and offers a wide variety of colors. It is usually cheaper than wood.
PVC: Easy to assemble, little maintenance and easy to clean with water. Durable, the colors do not fade easily with the sun and can withstand all climates.

Small tips for better aesthetic result and comfort
The floor: the garden houses are placed on a special base to facilitate the removal of water
The balcony in front of the house: we place a small counter, and chairs for more comfort.
Beetroot: protection against theft, add a decorative note.
The jardinieres : wooden or plastic, the jardinieres give a happy style to the house, and beautify the space. You can also plant aromatic plants such as basil or lavender.
The installation
Wooden houses
Wooden houses need strong bases: cement slab, plinths ... depending on the size and weight of the construction.
Apply duct tape between the foundation and the base of the canopy to prevent moisture. Read more here.
Metal houses
Metal houses or houses made of synthetic materials can be enough in a fastening kit to ensure their stability.
> For the lighter ones, there are special storm kits that hold the roof in place when a strong wind blows.
Rainwater discharge
It would be good to have a water drain that protects the house from water flow. Read more here.

The maintenance
Raw wood: Treatment for insects / fungicides before assembly, 1 or 2 coats of varnish after assembly, and 2 coats of varnish every 3 years.
Painted wood: regular washing, renewal with a special color for wood.
Metal, PVC, resin: Cleaning with water under pressure.
What does the law provide?
Depending on current legislation, garden houses may require the issuance of a building permit by the home planning authority. We suggest that you contact a licensed civil engineer or architect for more valid information.
